Home- and Community-Based Waivers

Home-and community-based services (HCBS) waivers are a Healthy Connections Medicaid long-term service and supports option that allows those eligible for South Carolina Healthy Connections Medicaid, who meet specific medical criteria, the opportunity to receive services and supports that enable them to live in home or community-based settings.

Standard services include, but are not limited to:

• Care management
• Home-delivered meals
• Personal care
• Adult day health services
• Respite care

South Carolina offers the following waiver options:

• Community Choices Waiver for the elderly and disabled.
• HIV/AIDS Waiver for people with HIV or AIDS.
• Mechanical Ventilator Dependent Waiver for adults who are dependent on a life support system.
